Sybase has what it takes in terms of market position and product range to create a compelling offering, especially given their customer list. The big thing I see missing is a great visual front end but I'm sure they're deal with that. They need something more robust than simple dashboard tools. I think it's a good move for Sybase. And, if the big Aleri-Coral8 code integration project was not going well, then what would be the impetus for Sybase to keep Aleri around, other than to service a handful of customers.
